Our family comes from Austria and we were raised with Austrian traditions and food. Having been brought up with our Austrian grandmother’s (Gram) cooking, we always paid attention and cooked with her in the kitchen. For years we prepared true Austrian dishes to our friends and family that were passed on to us from Gram. Today, we are even more pleased to be able to prepare these dishes for you. We think Gram would be proud of what we are doing.
We have traveled to Austria countless times and we visit the beautiful country as much as possible. Having made many friends during our travels, we have learned even more about our heritage and the Austrian culture and cuisine. It is an enchanting beautiful country with a wonderful history.
While you are here as our guest, we hope you enjoy some Austrian Gemütlichkeit: friendly hospitality, coziness, and cheerfulness!
The grand building where our restaurant and Inn is located was built in 1900 for the Noble family of Adams. After sitting dormant for a few years, the building was put on the market in 2009. By 2011, there was talk of tearing the building down, potentially losing a wonderful piece of architecture in our town. So on a whim, we decided to purchase it and open an Austrian-American restaurant, tavern and Inn. We named the restaurant after the Haflinger horse. The Haflinger is native to Austria and is a gentle and beautiful animal that we breed and have a passion for; which is quite apparent if you look around the walls of the Tavern.
At the Haflinger Haus, you are dining among our family and friends, and we welcome you to our table. We hope you enjoy our fine dishes, hospitality and cozy atmosphere.
Voted Number 1 Restaurant and Fine Dining two years in a row in the 2013 and 2014 Berkshire Eagle’s Reader’s Poll, the Haflinger Haus has a full service dining room operating every evening Tuesday through Sunday. From Wiener Schnitzel and Käsespätzle to Shrimp Scampi, our award-winning Clam Chowder and NY Strip Steaks and of course, our original Lobster Spaetzel, we are bringing the best of Austrian and American cuisines to the Berkshires.
Dining Room Menu
Our tavern is open Tuesday through Sunday evenings where you can enjoy beers on tap such as Hofbräu Lager, from one of Germany’s most popular breweries, in addition to a wide range of cocktails, spirits and wines. In addition to serving our full dining room menu, our lively tavern also offers it’s own specialties, with lighter options ranging from chicken wings, fresh salads, burgers and sandwiches to bratwurst and Goulash. Rooms are available with king, queen or full size beds, private bath, and free wi-fi just upstairs from the restaurant and tavern. More information about the Inn
